No Escape, the first and title track off SPACED’s new EP, is a perfect introduction to the uninitiated; a two-minute assault on the senses that echoes the best of the thrash metal genre — cool, calculated melodies shackled to ‘Kashmir’ style breakdowns and roared vocals.

Cause and Effect, meanwhile, is a highlight of the 2025 metal scene; a little Meliora-era Ghost, a little Volbeat, and plenty of bark-out-loud moments. This one’s sure to go down a storm live. On How Did It Come to This?, SPACED show their musical chops, bringing well-honed post-punk to this heady mix of heavy metal and thrash, all united behind a single, well-timed question: How did it come to this?

Pressure would have been a nu metal chart crusher when the genre was emerging in the early 2000s. Spaced are the masters of fun-sized, skull-cracking anthems, disorienting as they are addictive. Dog Bite makes for one final, worthy sock to the jaw, with some absolutely insane speed metal highs and guitar lines.

At barely ten minutes, No Escape is as true to an EP as possible; it’s enough to intrigue, but too little to sate. I want more, I need it. God bless these bruising melodies.

No Escape is out now via Pure Noise Records.
