Following their second Irish number-one album, Inhaler set off with style on their UK tour. This second album feels as if the band have found a sound that is the perfect authentic fit, and this translates phenomenally live. The longevity of the band’s friendship only strengthens their stage presence further.

The uniquely named Coventry-formed band FEET were the support act. Frontman George Haverson enticed the crowd with his wonderfully eccentric tambourine playing and natural stage presence. Showcasing some of their new and unreleased songs, the band are bound to have gained some new fans after this memorable performance. They got the crowd energized and excited to give Inhaler their complete devotion during their set.

Starting the set with the first single from the album, These Are The Days, Inhaler make a clear stance that this is the beginning of their new era. Many of the crowd haven’t heard any of the new songs live before so this got everyone moving from the offset.

Every aspect of their live performance feels fine-tuned and cohesive. From Elijah Hewson’s strong vocals and commanding stage presence to Robert Keating’s effortlessly cool bass playing, everything fits with each other to craft a stunning sound. The drums by Ryan McMahon and the spectacular lead guitar from Josh Jenkinson work in harmony beautifully. Their sound is incredibly similar, if not better, to what it is when recorded.

The setlist was evenly distributed between new and old songs. With a live debut of Things I Do all the way to Dublin In Ecstasy, a previously unreleased song that the band have been playing for years. Placing My Honest Face threw off a lot of the crowd that usually expect it to be the final song, however, it provided an exhilarating buzz that was carried throughout the entirety of the set. As well as perfecting the high-energy songs, the band were also able to capture beautiful moments during slower songs such as If You’re Gonna Break My Heart.

Closing with the title track of their debut album (It Won’t Always Be Like This) wrapped up the set perfectly. With this becoming a mantra to so many of their fans, it should never not feature on an Inhaler setlist. As the band waved goodbye and exited the stage, the crowd were still left in awe of the talent and excitement the band brought with them. Those at the front raced to try and grab a setlist, plectrum, or drumstick for any kind of souvenir from this wonderful night.

Cuts And Bruises has proven that the success from their debut was not a fluke, and this run of incredible live shows proves that they can consistently put on great performances. Inhaler are one of the best live indie bands at the moment, and I would urge anyone who has the chance to go and see them.
