Melody’s Echo Chamber dazzles at Camden’s Electric Ballroom
French artist Melody Prochet delivered an otherworldly performance at the iconic London venue.
Following the release of her critically acclaimed 2025 album Unclouded, Melody’s Echo Chamber —aka Melody Prochet — graces the stage at Camden’s Electric Ballroom as part of her UK and Europe spring tour.
The night opened with support from A Ghost Column, a group with an atmospheric sound reminiscent of Beach House. The trio of musicians, fronted by vocalist Victoria Hamblett, are clearly talented, and their intricate arrangements are impressive, but at times their performance felt as though it lacked a sense of dynamic range. Hamblett’s voice is stunning but can sometimes get lost amidst the instrumentals.
After a short break, Melody and her band promptly took the stage, opening their set with new track Eyes Closed. Melody’s groovy instrumentals really shine in a live setting, especially with such a talented band of musicians behind her. The MVP of the night was her superstar drummer, Malcolm Catto, who served as the hearty backbone behind every song.
Melody’s siren-like vocals truly blew me away as they rang out through the space, completely entrancing the crowd. Melody looks completely at home on stage, and her enthusiasm is utterly infectious. Some of my favourite moments from the show were simply watching her dance around in pure bliss as the band jammed out. It was also lovely to see many in the crowd matching her energy.
We moved through other new tracks, In The Stars and Flowers Turn Into Gold, before a meditative performance of Burning Man,which Melody described as her “prayer to the goddess of creativity”. Melody then encouraged the crowd to picture their happy place before launching into the bright and hypnotic sounds of Childhood Dream.
A true highlight of the set was a live rendition of Crystallized, breaking into an otherworldly jam session. It was like being transported to another dimension as the band engulfed the eager crowd in sound. You could feel the crunchy instrumentals reverberate through your very soul. It was a sight to behold as the crowd were witness to musicians at the top of their game playing their heart out.
It was unfortunate that the evening was mired with a few technical difficulties and what at times sounded like shoddy sound mixing, but Melody and the band took these issues in stride.
Hearing fan favourite I Follow You was another high point, with its stylish guitar riff somehow sounding even better live. The show seemingly closed with a fantastic performance of Daisy, but fans’ calls for an encore beckoned the band back on stage for a funky rendition of Shirim.
Overall, visiting Melody’s echo chamber was an unforgettable experience thanks to the immense talent of Melody Prochet and her incredible bandmates. Her fantastic discography lends itself to live performance, and I urge anyone who has the chance to go see them in person.
