The band joined SPRINTS on their UK leg of their sold-out tour, with a quick pit stop in Leeds of course.

“I put a spell on you / And now you’re mine…”. Just kidding, I didn’t — but VENUS GRRRLS certainly did.

VENUS GRRRLS joined Sprints in their UK headline tour over the past two weeks, making memories and celebrating Head Witch GK’s birthday with the infamous Colin and living the dream of every touring musician: booze, no sleep and a sold out city every night. The girls expressed how much they enjoyed their time on tour over a pint and a cig with myself. Nothing beats a good old chinwag with your favourite band – especially over a pint of Pilsner from the ye olde local brewery.

After last seeing the band perform at Leeds Brudenell Social Club early February, they’ve just gotten better and better with time and, my god, they’re going to be unstoppable this year. The tour life has certainly gotten them back in the groove of life again after a short break. The tour has allowed the girls to flourish as they’ve been playing back to back non-stop for two weeks, travelling the country with their tour manager Jessie, who is a part of Newcastle’s biggest and most empowering organisation Crew Girl – helping bring women into a male dominated industry.

The 45 minute set highlighted all of VENUS GRRRLS best and most empowering songs as well as a tear-jerking speech from GK where she spoke about the importance of donating stem cells if you can and how there will be an Anthony Nolan representative at each of their headline gigs in September to raise awareness of stem cell transplants. This speech was met with roars of cheers and love as well as many healthcare professionals singing the vocalists grace and courage to speak about its importance.

Being on tour with SPRINTS has created this wholesome relationship between both, with VENUS GRRRLS joining them on stage for several of Sprints songs and the whole band jumping up on stage in Leeds as it was the last show on the UK leg.

If you’d like to see more of the band, they are set to join many others on the festival circuit before embarking on their own headline tour in September in partnership with Anthony Nolan Stem Cell Research, which is an organisation close to the band.
