Wet Leg tackle London’s O2 Academy Brixton
The Isle of Wight duo bring their high energy to London.
Hailing from the beautiful and beachy Isle of Wight, indie-rock group Wet Leg have always been a band of stage-born performers. They bring a type of feral energy that only they can incite in fans, and the energy that they are bringing to their Moisturizer tour in 2025 is certainly no exception. Shattering the walls of the O2 Academy Brixton, they delivered a performance that had the audience begging for the party to go on (no encore there unfortunately, no matter how much the fans pleaded). Wet Leg introduced an array of tracks from their brand new album of the same name, Moisturizer, such as catch these fists and CPR, as well as a bunch of good old fan favourites.
Since Wet Leg’s previous tour supporting the infamous Harry Styles in 2023, they had kept clear of the limelight — aside from a couple of festival performances, such as Victorious Festival in Manchester, in addition to a blinding performance at London Stadium — to work tirelessly on their brand new album. Fans’ reactions to the fresh tracks prove that all the work that they had put into this project was worth every minute.
Wet Leg were supported by the insanely talented Bristol-born indie-pop musician Katy J Pearson, who the lead vocalist Rhian Teasdale themselves goes way back with from when they were a part of the indie music scene in Bristol as a solo artist. Katy J Person was the calm before the storm, performing well-loved tracks such as Beautiful Soul and Talk Over Town, inciting an energy that is polar opposite to Wet Leg, but the contrast of the two sounds complemented each other perfectly, which made for an unforgettable rollercoaster of a night.
The venue was bursting to the brim with adoring fans eager to hear Teasdale, who brings a type of sultry yet raunchy attitude to their tracks alongside backing vocalist and lead guitarist Hester Chambers, whose voices merge seamlessly to create Wet Leg’s infectious melodies. Teasdale and her musical counterparts gave an unforgettable performance of iconic dance moves and plenty of banter, a staple for any band with a stage presence that sticks with you for long after the gig itself has ended.
It’s no secret that Wet Leg’s lyrics are pretty eccentric and their doting fans ate this up as if they were ravenous for them, knowing every word to popular tracks such as Chaise Longue (well-known as a fantastic karaoke number) and Wet Dream, which created an incredible atmosphere of two thousand fans chanting these lyrics together in unison. With the incredible help of bass guitarist Ellis Durand and guitar and synthesiser player Joshua Omead Mobaraki, Wet Leg crafted a night of rebellious debauchery and iconic dance moves that fans are going to remember for years to come.
Moisturizer is set to be released on 11th July 2025, and fans are counting down the days until this dynamic bunch bless their ears once again.
