The Snuts announce 4th album with latest single ‘Defibrillator’
The Snuts are returning to bring joy to everyone with a new album and tour.

After a quieter 2025 and a much-needed personal break with a couple of summer shows in London and Middlesborough, The Snuts are well and truly back. The momentum they have built so far this year has been incredibly impressive as the band have returned to small town venues and laid the foundations for their fourth album Joy In Short Moments with singles Summer Rain, Motherlands, and now Defibrillator.
Defibrillator is their gorgeous latest effort and, having already heard it live in Warrington and Leeds, getting an official release felt absolutely essential as it was such an unforgettable part of the set. Arriving just in time to become a quintessential part of any summer playlist, the track has clever drum fills and tender vocals, making it the epitome of the idea behind joy in short moments — inviting loved ones to celebrate your life and letting go of your ego to show up for those around you.
When describing the new track, vocalist Jack Cochrane said: “I wanted to write a track that detailed a conscious decision to live and love more. To take life less seriously and dilute ego as often as possible. Defibrillator is a song that celebrates the collective and trivialises the sludgy worries of being alive.”
The dancing of the vocals and guitar rhythms before each chorus and the raw emotion of each makes for a relatable and addictive track that certainly builds up excitement for their new album.
Joy In Short Moments will be in your hands on October 23rd as The Snuts’ fourth album and second release on their very own independent label Happy Artist Records. This is also their first release as part of their newly established partnership with Virgin Music Group, whilst still maintaining independent status.
It’s clear that the band are continuing along the route of joyful, uplifting music, particularly reminiscent of their 2024 album Millennials. Their time away has given them space to progress and mature in their lyrical content, with frontman Jack Cochrane making room to ponder the questions constant touring often hides away. This has allowed for a more grounded, direct record to be created and is set to be more reflective of the personal milestones that the band members have achieved since their last record.
Speaking of the album, Cochrane said: “After three records of constant motion, I felt pulled back towards real life. Success, failure, parenthood and loss all found their way into these songs. Joy in Short Moments is the sound of reconnecting with what matters and learning to find meaning in the small things whilst navigating the questions; Who am I? Where should I be? Where am I going? What makes it all worthwhile?”
You can already feel the history of some of these transitions with Motherlands being an introspection about being back in your hometown, Defibrillator personifying joy in short moments and Summer Rain telling the story behind the challenges of fatherhood.
As a long time fan of their music, this new change of direction is not only super exciting but still pays tribute to their previous sound. Whilst this album is deeply personal and intimate, it has arrived at a time where it can be relatable for any listener.
