If it’s a new album, feature film and UK headline tour you’re looking for, The Streets have got you covered, as vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Mike Skinner recently announced the first full-length The Streets album since the 2011 release Computers and Blues

Due to be released on October 20th, the album will be accompanied by Skinner’s debut feature film of the same name, The Darker The Shadow, The Brighter The Light – a noir murder mystery film set in London’s clublands which he wrote, directed, shot, edited, scored and funded himself.

On the movie, Skinner said: “It has been seven long years working on this film and album. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do and after dipping my toe in with some shorts and music videos, I felt I was ready. I tried to go the traditional route for a bit, but it’s always served me better to follow my instincts and just get on with it myself, so I’ve directed it, acted in it, edited, sound mixed, funded, produced it all as well as written it.

“The album doesn’t exist without it. Ultimately it’s all the fruits of a decade on the DJ circuit, watching people in clubs and back rooms, testing out beats and basslines to see what connected.”

Alongside this announcement, Skinner also shared the first new single from his forthcoming album titled Troubled Waters, giving fans a taster of the classic drum and bass, euphoric synth and lyrical skill that The Streets fans have come to know and love.

As well as this, Skinner will also embark on a headline UK tour in support of his new music, beginning on October 26th before finishing on November 16th at London’s Alexandra Palace.

General sale for The Streets UK tour begins on Friday 21st July.

Mike Skinner’s debut feature film will be screened on yet-to-be-announced dates at Everyman Cinemas throughout the UK – so keep your eyes peeled for more info.
