Wet Leg tell all on ‘Wet Dream’

The Isle of Wight newcomers storm on the radar with their second single

The Isle of Wight duo — consisting of Hester Chambers and Rhian Teasdale — follow-up their debut single Chaise Longue with the undeniably catchy Wet Dream. Inspired by numerous texts Teasdale received from her ex (you can probably guess what they entailed), Wet Dream tells the tale of an ex who still has you in mind, and feels the need to tell you that.

With punchy lyrics like, “what makes you think you’re good enough to think about me when you’re touching yourself?” they solidify themselves as one of the UK’s rising stars. I mean, not everyone is bold enough to release a break-up song, let alone a break-up song about their ex touching themselves. And, for that matter, they nail it; it’s two minutes of pure escapism. Somehow producing perfectly catchy, funky bops seems to be Wet Leg’s forte, placing them amongst pros like Dream Wife.

Having only started releasing music this year, it’s safe to say they’ve left a lasting impression on fans and peers alike. Despite this being their second offering, they’ve already supported the likes of indie giants Declan McKenna and Jungle, and are going to be supporting Inhaler, shame and Willie J Healey this year, with their own 2022 tour on the horizon.

It’s hard to believe a band with such a meticulously sculpted signature sound are only at the beginning of their career, which only leaves me excited for what they’ll be releasing in the near future — if these two humongous singles are anything to go by. Keep these two firmly on your radar.
