The most interesting thing about getting to listen to new music is getting the opportunity to explore the musical offerings of a variety of people. C Douglas and his EP 75019 is the makings of something fun to listen to in the genre.

At First is a really fun opening track, sitting at four minutes. These 4 minutes fly by while listening, as it’s something groovy to take a listen to while also not being overproduced in a way that makes it difficult to lend an ear to. This track is cool as hell and feels like it wouldn’t be too far out of place in a position accompanying the main character in a movie, getting their day started. There’s just something incredibly infectious about this track and it’s hard to place what it is. Whatever it is, it’s definitely working.

I Like It Like That follows a similar upbeat nature, almost feeling like an ethereal track in nature, talking about doing alright for yourself and finding your own place in the world, whilst not being known, which is both cool and levelheaded, as it delves into time in the limelight coming when it comes around. This is a favourite for me, as someone who is trying to find a place in the world to do my own thing and not worry about the next big goal. There’s just something heavily relatable regarding the premise of this track that sticks when you listen closely.

If You Want Me is somewhat of a tone shift, but it’s one that is provided in an interesting way regarding what came prior. The production on this is really intriguing to my ears, as the way things build and break, alongside the vocals talking on the wide capabilities regarding romance and what someone would do for love, makes for a dope one-two punch. It’s also very on topic with Valentine’s Day coming up on the 14th, that the premise of caring for someone to the point that you would do anything that you can for them is explored in this song.

Finally, Around The Corner is a track that is more lowkey, more akin to the prior song than the first two, and is unique in its own right regarding the track. The premise of this track is that you may not know what life has in store for you “around the corner”, but that continuing to walk forward and do what you can in this world is the most important thing you can do. This is another really cool track that does its job as a closing track for what is a very fun EP from start to finish.

75019 is a fun EP with a lot of twists and turns in it to make it stand out in some unique ways. A favourite of the four was definitely I Like It Like That but all four of these tracks have some cool depth and uniqueness to them.

75019 is out now via Golden Lion Sounds. Get it on vinyl here, limited to 100 copies.
