Afro Nation Portugal 2026: New Sounds and Future Vibes on the Portimão Beach
The World’s Biggest Afrobeats Festival returns to Portugal for its 6th year from July 3rd to 5th, in Portimão, the Algarve.
Over the past six years, Afro Nation has evolved beyond a music festival into a global cultural force, drawing more than 40,000 fans from over 170 countries. The three-day event offers an immersive experience, bringing together the African diaspora in a celebration of dance, food, fashion and music.
The 2025 five-year anniversary event saw a boundary-pushing lineup with the likes of Burna Boy, Mary J. Blige, Dexta Daps, Uncle Waffles and Tems performing. This year is sure to follow suit with three genres and global energies set to disrupt.
Headlining the festival this year are some of today’s biggest African artists: Mr. Money with the Vibe sensation Asaka, Tyla, set to ignite the crowd with hits like Chanel and Bliss, and Nigerian Starboy Wizkid, who no doubt will Ginger them. The newest headline artist to be announced is Burna Boy, arguably known as the pioneer of Afrofusion and one of the genre’s biggest global forces.
There will also be special guest performances from American rapper Gunna, known for his melodic trap style, and R&B sensation Kehlani, who is sure to get everyone folded in the Algarve heat, and has just scooped up several awards at the GRAMMYs.
Who is on the Afro Nation lineup?
In addition to this year’s headliners, performing on the Lit Stage is a strong bill, including three women who have been captivating the music scene as of late: Mariah the Scientist, whose voice blends ethereal R&B with intimate, breathy vocals; Ludmilla, bringing the Brazilian funk and Theodora, with the French-Congolese vibes. Also performing on the stage are Niska, Olamide, Awilo Longomba, Bien, Darkoo, Denden, Djodje and Young Jonn. Joining these standout artists on the Lit Stage will also be Afrobeats legends Wande Coal and R2Bees, whose influences have shaped the sound of Afrobeats as we know it today.
On the Piano People Stage, another female sensation joining the lineup is Uncle Waffles — a rising cultural icon whose Amapiano sets have taken dance floors worldwide. You will also enjoy sweet piano vibes from Madumane, Focalistic, Amaroto, Daliwonga, Lee McKrazy, Mawhoo, Mellow & Sleazy and Zee Nxumalo.
A new electronic music stage — Afrotronic — also joins in 2026.
Whether you are attending for the dynamic vibes, to immerse yourself in African culture or food, the event is set to be a weekend to remember, showcasing great African talent.
