Chloe Slater announces her debut album ‘Riot Youth’
The album is coming this October.
Chloe Slater is back with a new fun, punchy and honest track, as well as an exciting debut album announcement. The new single, Southern Youth, is out now via Stolen Juice (AWAL) and her debut album, Riot Youth, arrives October 9th.
Her debut album is a look into the experience of growing up in the UK with a sense of yearning for those formative years. She holds up a mirror to our fear of the future, unstable social landscape and the isolation that social media has created through division and fear mongering.
Her newest single, Southern Youth, a follow-up to Ugly, is a transparent narrative of the memory of easier times. It discusses the irony of missing home, but only when you’ve left that small town.
Hailing from Bournemouth before moving to Manchester, Chloe describes the isolation felt growing up in a seasonal seaside town that would be deserted during the Winter months. We all yearn for what no longer exists. She touches on feeling like a tourist when returning home after being away, which is a universal melancholic experience many will relate to.
At just 23, she is rising to be one of the most impactful indie artists out there at the moment with the ability to mix fun, passion and serious intelligence into her lyrics and live performances. She wants to drive the message home that community doesn’t offer all the answers but, if we continue to hope, then positivity may continue to shine through the dark times.
From touring with the likes of ROLE MODEL, The Beaches and Courtney Barnett, she has officially announced a debut album tour. Headline dates include stops in Bristol, London’s iconic Scala and Nottingham, with a total of 26 stops across the UK and Europe.
Continuing her powerful message, £1 from every ticket sold is going towards Music Declares Emergency, to support the campaign’s climate action initiatives.
