Goodbye announce debut EP ‘These Things Take Time’ with new track ‘13a’
The band solidified themselves as ones to watch before accompanying Lime Garden on tour in March.
13a has dropped, and provided the perfect soundtrack to a walk through the misty weather I happened to be on when I first listened to it. Throughout my first listen to the track, all I could focus on were the angelically soft vocals building up over the course of the song; the instrumentation accompanying it only added to the ethereal feeling. The almost haunting harmonies of both Meghan Wheeler and Sarah Ryan’s voices add a kind of subtle eeriness to the single and, paired with the beautifully soft guitar riff following their vocals, it’s impossible not to fall in love with the track.
The track follows debut single, Meat, which they released back in December, and it aids the latest single beautifully. The instruments on this track are definitely more at the forefront of the song, with the bass setting up the slowed tempo and layered melody from the very beginning. Across both tracks, the building of each individual element is so refreshing to hear and, with their debut EP being announced alongside this latest release, I can’t wait to see what else the band has to offer.
These Things Take Time is set to release on March 26th, and contains three brand new tracks alongside the two singles already released. Goodbye will support both Lime Garden and The Slow Country on their tours, before playing a handful of headline shows, including a festival slot at Brighton’s Great Escape, where I can only imagine their hazy shoegaze and dream-pop inspired tracks will submerge any audience in a pool of hazy guitar riffs and dreamy vocals.
