Lala Lala announces her 5th album ‘Heaven 2’ with 2 new singles
Lillie West’s newest songs see her taking a different route from her previous fully instrumental album — embracing ethereal vocals and layered harmonies.
Lala Lala has dropped two new singles: Even Mountains Erode and Heaven2. The first track is beautifully composed, with a snappy drum beat, and Lillie West’s vocals working seamlessly with the prominent keys heard throughout the song, along with her delicate delivery of such prominent lyrics: “I’d rather live true, than waste it on you”. The layering of her voice works so well with this soft instrumental, and it seems that with each listen, you can hear even more detail in the backing. It’s a great way to kick off the singles for this album, and it only makes me more excited for the release of her new album Heaven 2, releasing on February 27th.
Heaven2 is the second single, and it definitely takes on a more gradual approach. The track opens with West’s vocals, which are certainly more prominent in this song than in the track before. They almost feel isolated, before the synth-heavy beat drops, and her voice almost glides through it. Towards the end of the single, there’s a beautiful synth solo layered over the track, only adding to the ethereal essence of this song. It plays out near the end of the track before fading out, and rounds off the two singles perfectly.
Heaven2 is out February 27th via Sub Pop. Pre-order the album here.
