Pan-continental cumbia group Los Bitchos have announced their third album, Los Bitchos & Friends Vol 1, to be released 13th November. Following 2024’s Talkie Talkie, the new record will, true to the name, feature a variety of collaborators, guests and vocalists - something the until-now instrumental band have never had.
The three-piece (keyboardist Agustina Ruiz left the band prior to this announcement) have teamed up with Ambrose Kenny-Smith of King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard fame for the latest single, ‘Holding Cell’ - which has a classic, microtonal sound similar to that of the former’s albums KG and LW.
The first taste of the upcoming album, ‘Hang Up (Pt 2)’, was released in July, featuring musicians Sinkane and Adrian Quesada. Other special guests on the new album will include Chica Libre, Simon Burke (The Meltdown) and Kit Sebastian. Both tracks released thus far signal a new era for Los Bitchos, one that sees the group expanding their sound and exploring more than just cumbia and Latin influences.
Having previously supported the likes of King Gizzard, Pavement and Franz Ferdinand on tour, Los Bitchos & Friends (Vol 1) sounds like the first in a series of fresh, exciting and entirely collaborative new songs.
