Mouth Ulcers put out Bauhausian new single ‘Prevail’, sign to LAB Records

The London four-piece mark their new era with deliciously gothic single, echoing the best of Peter Murphy and Robert Smith.

It’s impossible not to like these guys. They look incredible, they sound insane and their presence drips through the camera lens like a toxic sludge. Mouth Ulcers’ newest effort is the new wave of ‘80s gothic at its core. It’s The Cure, it’s Bauhaus — the guitar reminds me a lot of The Cult’s first LP, Dreamtime. It’s a dispossessed madman’s dream and it sounds fucking perfect.

Like their previous releases, Prevail is more than just a homage; it’s proof that gothic new wave never really went away. If you love anything dark, alternative and smoky-eyed, this is an instant addition to the playlist. May the new year ring in the underground success the group deserves.

Prevail is out now via LAB Records.
