The Jesus and Mary Chain and The Psychedelic Furs announce a mammoth co-headline tour
The two post-punk titans face off across eight shows throughout England and Scotland.
Post-punk superstars The Jesus and Mary Chain and The Psychedelic Furs have teamed up for a mammoth co-headline UK tour next year. The tour, which kicks off in Leeds next January before ending in London, sees the two titans going head to head over eight dates.
Glasgow’s The Jesus and Mary Chain are legends of the post-punk and shoegaze scenes with a myriad of genre-defining records such as their classic, chaotic debut Psychocandy and its mellow follow-up Darklands. The band are characterised by their intertwining of raging, noisy walls of guitars and their moody yet melodic pop sensibilities.
The Psychedelic Furs very much exist as the other side of the coin to their new tour mates. Mixing punk energy with a more arty style, the band’s 1981 record Talk, Talk, Talk was a smashing success. They are perhaps best known for their hit single Pretty In Pink being featured in a classic John Hughes film that took its title directly from the song.
The tour is set to be a seismic event for fans of post-punk, art rock and shoegaze in the UK. It’s rare two leading bands in the same genre get to play together in a run of shows like this. Tickets are on sale from September 25th and can be purchased here.
