World News announce debut LP ‘In Purgatory’
The up-and-talked-about rock group have also released the latest single, ‘The Way It Goes’, ahead of the full release in October.

London rock band World News have announced that their first full-length release, In Purgatory, will be released on October 16th. The group have steadily put out beloved indie rocker after indie rocker, including dreamy, six-minute single Sidestep back in April. In Purgatory will find a place for Sidestep, as well as prior singles Don’t Want to Know and favourite Everything Is Coming Up Roses.
The Way It Goes, another track from the debut LP, has been released alongside the news, promising more of that signature [Mark] Knopfler meets The Outfield sound, with cinematic riffs and rich melodies. The track, which was written and demoed way back in 2020, is a nostalgic slice of indie rock, perfecting the formula World News have finessed on popular cuts like Wrapped in Gold and The Tinman. The latter has racked up over five million streams on Spotify alone — the group have put out three EPs since 2020.
To support the album, the four-piece are heading out across the UK and Europe in October, including a headline show at London’s iconic Scala. For the four London-based boys, 2026 looks like the year everything’s coming up roses.
