Y announce new EP ‘ENTER’ with single ‘May’
The track comes with its own attitude, cultivating a vibe that is simply unmatched.
The newest track from Y, May is a song full of attitude and full of spunk that absolutely shifts from the very first track they put on streaming, not to mention the fact that the song itself lends itself to being an interesting track altogether.
The production and the way that instrumentation is used, blending together with the vocals of the track with lines like “Flowers grow and flowers die in May”, all of that comes together in a very, very fun way, leading to a track that is not only listenable, but is relistenable too.
There’s a distinct care that is put into every element of this track, and it is supremely apparent. There’s also a very nostalgic feel to the track as a whole, as it is something that would not feel out of place amongst the heavy hitters of the mid-2000s, something put in the most glowing way imaginable.
Going from the saxophone-heavy debut track to what Y has moved to now, as someone who truly loved that debut track, is such a positively fascinating thing to see, and is something that only delights the ears in the best possible way. With a new EP on the way, this track is an incredible foundation for what is to come soon after, and I cannot be any more excited to see what else is in store for Y.
ENTER EP is out May 8th via So Recordings & Hideous Mink Records.
