Funk and nostalgia reign supreme in Alex Fernet’s new single ‘Hey Lady’
Ahead of new album ‘Modern Night’, the post-funk musician delivers dance-y new track dripping in ‘80s glimmer.
Ahead of the release of his new album Modern Night on 26th September, Alex Fernet has rounded out a hat-trick of singles (Sunlight Vampires and The Nightdrive released earlier this year) with third single Hey Lady.
A groovy slice of funk coated in nostalgic ‘80s fuzz and Nile Rodgers licks; throughout the track, there’s a sense of urgency in the form of thumping backbeat, before the chorus takes us right into a climactic, Hollywood-style chase on those bikes from Tron. For some songs, there’s a whole lot to say. Others just don’t need the purple prose; this is a catchy track, an unknown single from the ‘80s dragged through to the present day. What more do you need to know? Get it straight in the tape deck.
Modern Night is out September 26th via Bronson Recordings. Pre-order here.
