Ava Max pops off in regal new single ‘KiLL iT QUEEN’
The ‘Sweet but Psycho’ singer returns to the dancefloor once again in first taste of untitled fourth album.
Only last year, American musician Ava Max released her third album, Don’t Click Play. Now, she’s looking ahead, teasing an upcoming, untitled fourth LP with new single KiLL iT QUEEN.
Lyrically, the song hardly breaks new ground; much of the verses comprise noughties ‘bad girl’ slang (‘Yeah, baby, go off’, ‘she’s a baddie’, ‘eat it up, eat it up’). In fact, it’s rather tough to imagine how it took six songwriters — Max included — to come up with the content of this sub-three-minute anthem.
But to the song’s credit, in true Max fashion, KiLL iT QUEEN is a ridiculously catchy number, made for the pop charts and nightclubs. True to the title, it even has a little operatic flair of Freddie Mercury — echoing some of the more theatrical elements on Max’s first album, Heaven & Hell. It’s a track firmly in the genre of empowering feminist anthem, one Max embodies in a lot of her work, and why the hell not? Go off, Ava.
KiLL iT QUEEN is out now via Artist Partner Group.
