Stillness Gyrating, the latest release from Irish musician Balderdasch, is one of the most mesmerising, discomforting releases of recent memory, with an unsettling visualiser to boot.

It’s Björk meets Sinoia Caves’ score to Panos CosmatosBeyond the Black Rainbow. Its lyrics, equally, are hypnotic and cryptic; the whole thing feels like a music video from the early days of YouTube that was never meant to be found, or some obscure project lost in the dark web. That’s not to say the track isn’t strong in its own right, with Balderdasch’s vocal delivery suiting the track perfectly. It stands out from the crowd for all the right reasons.

Stillness Gyrating is out now via Apollo.
