Harry Styles long-awaited comeback arrives in the form of ‘Aperture’
The new release is set as the first single from his fourth album ‘Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally.’.
It’s been a generous month so far for fans of Harry Styles with the announcement of fourth record Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally., a global tour and now the release of lead single Aperture.
Off the back of GRAMMY Award-winning record Harry’s House and the extensive Love On Tour, Styles took a well-earned step back, splitting his time between Rome and Berlin. A pause that clearly allowed him to absorb the textures of Europe’s club culture and festival circuits. Those influences predictably bleed into this new era on Aperture.
Produced and co-written by long-time collaborator Kid Harpoon, Aperture deliberately sidetracks off Harry’s traditional mainstream pop appeal and delves deep into the hypnotic minimalism of Europe’s extensive electronic scene, almost temporarily posing as a possible lead substitute for established alternative dance acts LCD Soundsystem and Kraftwerk.
Ultimately, Harry never fully abandons everything, still leaving a pop disco feel to the track mixed into his heavily tweaked vocals, stating: “It’s best you know what you don’t, Aperture lets the light in / We belong together / It finally appears it’s only love.”
Though Aperture opens the album, it feels less like an introduction and more like the aftermath of a comedown of a night spent chasing connection under strobes. It’s a fitting emotional bridge for a record titled Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally., capturing both the joy and exhaustion implied in its name.
Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally. is out March 6th via Columbia Records, supported by a residency-focused tour spanning 50 shows across multiple global cities including six nights at London’s Wembley Stadium and 30 at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
