Hutch release feel-good single ‘Mrs Sunshine’
The buoyant new track sees a return to form for the psych pop band.
With winter dragging on and the January blues in full swing, Brighton four-piece Hutch have delivered us a much-needed dose of summer in the form of their latest single, the aptly titled Mrs Sunshine.
A year on from their last single, Rustle, the band is developing a habit of providing a summer tonic to get us through the tough months.
With a jangly upbeat guitar intro, the song is an immediate dopamine hit that feels like lazy summer days spent on the beach with friends. The whole track continues in vintage Hutch style, with radiant synths, bright drums and breezy guitars blending together to create their signature psychedelic sound.
The lyrics playfully tap into an abstract world, imagining the sun as a metaphorical character: “Say hello to Mrs Sunshine, I haven’t seen her for some time / you invite her in for dinner, hoping she will share her light”.
The whole song feels like a warm hug in a dream that you don’t want to wake up from, which is just what we need while the days are short and cold and we await the brighter months ahead.
Mrs Sunshine is out now.
