Melanie Baker releases punky new single ‘Real Life’
The pop-punk tune follows prior singles ‘Sad Clown’, ‘Bored’ and ‘HAHA!’.

Real Life is the final reveal of Melanie Baker’s upcoming debut album, Somebody Help Me, I’m Being Spontaneous!, and it’s every inch the sneering indie-rock cut you expected it to be. With apathetic vocal deliveries and fuzzy, overblown riffs, it’s effortlessly cool.
As Baker sings, “I want to ride a motorbike in New Orleans…”—it might not be a swampy, southern drawl, but instead offers up juicy power pop in the same vein of swagger ‘n’ spit indie icons Wet Leg or Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers. Baker’s first album, which drops next month, is shaping up to be one hot release.
Somebody Help Me, I’m Being Spontaneous! is out April 10th.
