Ethereal Moody Moody released new single ‘Controller’
The Aberdeen-based band turns negative experiences into a captivating and sombre track.
Moody Moody, a rock band based out of Aberdeen, Scotland, recorded the new single at Castle of Doom in Glasgow with producer Jamie Holmes. The single follows Moody Moody’s latest EP, Otherlands, released in April of 2025. The band uses their dark and dreamy sound to bring a new energy to their negative experiences.
Controller builds from far-off sounding guitars surrounded by a dreary reverb to an overflow of reflections on trauma and a distanced anger. The track stands on its own, encompassing a whole story in its five minutes. With dark choruses and atmospheric instrumental breaks, it holds onto the listener’s attention and emotions the whole way through.
The electric guitar is by far the shining aspect of this track. Towards Controller’s end, the echoing of the line “Controller / It’s over” immediately followed by an intense ramping-up of the electric guitar, acts as the final cry for all of the emotion built up throughout the track. The song’s length also proves to be a very well-chosen move, as it allows the story within it to build slowly, giving it an emotional progression that truly mimics real-life experience.
