A cosy stroll through existentialism: Prom Dress’ ‘Salmon We Caught from the River’
The Southampton-based artist drops the latest single from his upcoming EP, full of electro flair and big ideas.
Salmon We Caught from the River, off Prom Dress’ upcoming EP Attic Thoughts, is a slice of bouncy alternative rock, the spiritual B-side of King Gizzard’s electro cosy masterpiece Butterfly 3000. But there are electro echoes of other established acts here in Future Islands and Metronomy.
Lyrically, the track deals with what humanity has lost; no longer relying on governments, religions and medications for happiness. It’s a druidic offering, a track laden with lush, verdant flairs and burrowing nuances, promising moments of elation and melancholia. It’s a neat little tune, and a worthy taste of what to expect from producer and artist Prom Dress.
