Sparks release prickly new rocker ‘Porcupine’
The track’s release comes alongside announcement of the duo’s first-ever EP ‘MADDER!’.
Everyone’s favourite weird musical duo, Sparks, have returned with Porcupine, a lovably strange piece of art rock that preludes the release of the group’s upcoming EP — the first in their fifty years of service. Their last studio album, MAD!, was released back in May, with the new EP, MADDER! — out October 3rd — serving as a companion piece of sorts, recorded in the immediate wake of their 26th studio album.
Focusing on the narrator’s love interest, the kind of girl that rubs everyone up the wrong way, is her own unshakeable self, but hiding a softer side, Porcupine is one of Sparks’ heavier releases to date, somewhere between their signature art-pop and rock. It’s a catchy little tune, and further proof that you can write twenty-six full-length albums and still have some gas left in the tank.
MADDER! is out October 3rd via Transgressive.
