Y put out mystifying new single ‘Skipper’

The single sees influences from the past and present day, in an uncanny new indie track.

London five-piece Y have put out their latest single Skipper, ahead of a string of seasonal shows across the UK in 2025. The new track is a fast-paced, synth-and-guitar driven affair with flashes of old-school ska and modern-day punk. Co-vocalist Sophie Coppin sounds like a 21st-century Siouxsie, all frantic and wild-eyed. It brings a touch of the strange and cryptic to a saturated genre and leaves an impression far beyond its runtime.

Skipper is out now via Hideous Mink Records.
