Martin Luke Brown announces third album with hazy bop ‘dream state’
Following the album’s release this September, the singer-songwriter will also embark on a UK, Ireland, and EU tour.
Singer-songwriter Martin Luke Brown has announced that his third solo album life & death etc. will be released on September 18th via Bright Antenna Records.
Accompanying the news is Brown’s latest single, dream state. Like previous album single back of my mind, dream state sees Brown embrace charming, twangy moments and warm, bluesy textures as he delves deeper into the rich and janky territory of his signature indie-soul soundscape.
When discussing the single, Brown said: “It’s all about the perils of avoidance! It’s about a time where I was literally running away from pain, both physically and mentally. In the context of the album, this song is the moment where the emotional drain begins to unblock, and the fog starts to clear, and it starts to become a big celebration of emotion rather than a turgid wallowing in repression.”
Known for his acclaimed sophomore album man oh man ! and as a founding member of the genre-defying supergroup FIZZ – alongside Orla Gartland, dodie, and Greta Isaac – Brown’s latest album marks his departure from the major label world.
Exploring everything from the mundane to the hyper existential, life & death etc. is a record that was made to resonate with real people. As Brown put it: “It’s service oriented. I want to make music that serves people in some way.”
Brown will also embark on a UK, Ireland, and EU tour this autumn, launching in Utrecht on November 11th. Tickets are on sale here.
