The support for the sold-out show in Brighton includes post-punk-inspired Warmduscher, who are regulars in the Brighton scene by this point.

Their live performances are known for their raw energy and, having been lucky enough to witness two of their sets live, they are the perfect band to warm up the crowd before an icon like Nick Cave hits the stage.

With grating guitar riffs nestled at the heart of their music and a frontman who encourages the chaos that gradually swirls in the mosh pit as their set develops, I’m excited to see what they bring to Preston Park.

The Flaming Lips are also billed to support Nick Cave, with a more tender and gentle approach to their music; they’ll provide a nice contrast to the raucous Warmduscher. With an extensive back catalogue, it will be interesting to see which tracks they decide to whip out for such a special performance.

Mercury Prize winners English Teacher will also help warm up the crowd, again with a much more mellow sound, perfect for a summer’s day. The spoken-word-like lyricism and soothing instrumentals are striking to hear live, and I imagine this performance will be no different.

The last support act announced for this special night is Cate Le Bon. Fresh off her latest album, Michelangelo Dying, her music takes on a dream-like quality, full of hazy synths and trippy melodies. All of the acts announced work brilliantly live alone, but imagining them performing together in such a beautifully open space is truly wonderful.

With Nick Cave rounding off the night, it’s sure to be a day of incredible music and performances set against the beautiful backdrop of Preston Park.
