Bedroom-bred sensation Tom Misch has announced his sixth album, Full Circle, marking his first major release since 2021. Known for his distinctive blend of hip-hop, jazz and soul, Misch has gained recognition with music lovers since 2018, with his unique collaborations with British rapper Loyle Carner, including Angel and Colourblind, helping to bring his sound to a wider audience.

Tom has been curating Full Circle over the last three years and expressed via social media just how vulnerable and personal the album is, while also sharing how excited he is to release it to his fans. In his post, he talked about how the project became bigger than he had imagined and how the intensity of his career throughout his 20s began to impact his mental health, leading him to step back from music for a while.

Three out of the eleven songs on the album have been released so far: Red Moon, Old Man and the latest track, Sisters With Me, with the song’s visual released this week.

Red Moon is a personal favourite. The song opens with solid drums by Ian Fitchuk, followed by the infectious sounds of Tom’s electric guitar and Alex Bonfanti’s bass. The instruments alone in the first 25 seconds are enough to make you rewind and appreciate the journey the song is about to take you on.

Sisters With Me is a laid-back and vulnerable track, reflecting on the love life can bring along with its uncertainties. Tom expresses how his sisters are essentially the love he needs and that he will be okay with them by his side. The subtle saxophone by Kaidi Akinnibi, which comes in towards the end of the track, adds another powerful dimension to the song, further strengthening its message. It’s unique, as I’ve not heard a song about sibling love expressed in this way before.

Old Man explores the relationships between a father and son, with Tom reflecting on his own father. He sings about life being a mystery, reminiscing on trips, noticing more grey hairs but having to let things go, and not recognising yourself in the mirror, where your reflection starts to look a bit like your father. The track reflects on imagining where he’ll be in later years, maybe he’ll have a son, and maybe he’ll play this song when he’s 80. Tom’s electric guitar solo at the end of the track is very powerful. There’s something special about how his voice pairs with his guitar. It really draws you in and makes you feel the heart in his words throughout his instrument.

Full Circle is out on March 27th via Beyond The Groove / AWAL Recordings. To celebrate, Tom will be playing two intimate shows at KOKO in London on April 1st and 2nd. Pre-order the album here.
