The Rooks have truly spread their wings with the release of their new single, Nothing To Lose

The bold, optimistic track emits a soaring sound that could be likened to Stereophonics and Kings Of Leon, with lead vocalist Ross Gardiner delivering lyrics that describe putting doubt to the back of your mind and letting go.

Alongside him, Cameron McKie offers electrifying riffs on lead guitar, Matthew McFadyen rocks the rhythm guitar, Kieran Luddy provides a bassline and Coll MacKinnon steers the way on drums. Together, the group creates a powerful sound that feels both complete and confident.

Nothing To Lose also comes with a brand new music video, directed by Daniel Blake, that cuts between a windfarm and a warehouse, offering contrasting backdrops for the song and perhaps representing conflicting desires with a glimmer of resolution at the end of the tunnel.

Make no mistake though — there are no conflicting feelings when it comes to the group’s acceleration towards stardom.

The Rooks have quickly become ones to watch on the live scene, supporting the likes of Miles Kane and Brògeal for Independent Venue Week earlier this year, after selling out their home-town headline gig at Glasgow’s Art School in December.

Following their success at Glasgow’s TRNSMT in 2025, the group will be returning to the festival this summer and will also be playing Belladrum in Kiltarlity.

Nothing To Lose is out now.
