South Wales post-punk newcomers DOGCOLLAR are back again with the follow-up to their smashing debut single Family Affair. The band has returned with the ferocious Beautiful Game, which more than matches their previous single for sheer velocity and intensity.

Whereas Family Affair had an overarching mobster theme, Beautiful Game is, unsurprisingly, looking into the more sinister aspects of the game of football as it decries that “the beautiful game is not so beautiful.” The track is wonderfully self-produced again and is absolutely blistering.

It’s rare to see a band throw down two singles that sound so fully realised already. The song features a more infectious and melodic vocal but retains the driving forward momentum that made Family Affair so exciting. The band are clearly not afraid to match their raw and visceral tone with glimpses into the gritty underbellies of society. First mobsters, then football, what are DOGCOLLAR going to be diving into next?

Beautiful Game is out now. Stay up-to-date with the band on Instagram.
