Paired up with the previously released ‘I Am Obsessed’, it is a one-two punch that is set up for an absolute success.

PUNCHBAG, back with another absolute gem of a song, put out What’s In My Bag, and what a fantastic track it is to listen to. On first listen, the first thing you really feel regarding the song is just the energy that it exudes, as the upbeat nature of it paired with the whispery vocals is an incredibly interesting contrast between the two.

The production for What’s In My Bag is such an entrancing listen, coupled with lyrics like “Now I’m sleeping in the plastic bag wrap / I’ve become my clutter” that speak on the messy nature of one’s literal bag, and one’s “bag” in a figurative sense. The lyrics themselves are bouncy, filling into the production from chorus to bridge in a way that shifts from a whisper to a shout, and this track as a whole is one that is outright well-produced and three minutes very well spent.

I Am Obsessed, the previously released single, is another instance where there is a distinct shift in how things start and how things slowly progress throughout the song. The tempo of this track and the general vibe of this track is at a bit of a slower pace than What’s In My Bag, but is still an interesting track within its own right, making for another track that has something very special to it.

These two tracks together are well worth the listen, and What’s In My Bag is one in particular that really struck all of the right chords for what to look for in the genre. It is going to be very exciting seeing what PUNCHBAG has next in store.

Alongside their upcoming EP, the band have just announced a UK and European tour, starting next month in Paris and ending with a show at The Lexington in London.

I Am Obsessed is out April 10th via Mute. Pre-order the EP on vinyl here.
