Laura Musgrave brings retro magic to ‘Habit Of A Lifetime’
The erstwhile singer-songwriter makes the leap to gritty power pop.
Even though she won top honours at the 2023 International Singer-Songwriter Association (ISSA) awards, Laura Musgrave is a rocker at heart. The East Midlands-based artist has a new single called Habit Of A Lifetime that will transport you instantly to the heyday of Paramore, with just a hint of contemporary greats like Pale Waves. Produced by Becky Willard, the new single has been featured on BBC Music Introducing.
“The song is about that moment when you realise that the only way to change the situation is to walk away,” says Musgrave. “Staying in a relationship with someone who won’t meet you halfway means losing yourself, and you can’t let that happen. This is the turning point where you decide to say goodbye to old habits and put yourself first.”
Musgrave makes occasional co-writing trips to Paramore’s hometown of Nashville, where she was nominated for a Rising Star award at the 2024 Josie Music Awards.
Habit Of A Lifetime proves that there’s still a huge market for music steeped in the retro vibe of Avril Lavigne and Paramore.
Habit Of A Lifetime is out now on Zwold Records.
