Linkwells soak up the present in roaring new track ‘Can’t Chase Yesterday’

The Malvern four-piece, who have already put out six singles and an EP, drop their latest with a declaration of ambedo.

With a stomping opening somewhere between Oasis and AC/DC’s Black Ice, Can’t Chase Yesterday quickly rollicks into a latter-day power pop number, with driving backbeat and deliciously Gallagher-esque licks (is the title a nod to the High Flying Birds’ 2015 album, Chasing Yesterday?). Grappling with living in the moment and leaving the past firmly in the rear view mirror, the track is a cruising summertime road trip put to verse.

Musically, it won’t win any awards for innovation — it’s a simplistic indie rocker through and through, but for a piece of addictive, infectious pop-rock, it proves ironically tough to let go.

Can’t Chase Yesterday is out now.
