ugly ozo unveil addictive new single ‘jackpot’
The Isle of Wight group’s latest playful pop gamble pays off, ahead of a full EP release in May.

Isle of Wight’s ugly ozo’s latest release, jackpot, is pure, bombastic power-pop on dark mode. It’s almost neurotic, how it switches from softer, seductive verses to needle-sharp riffs and stoner rock breakdowns.
“Choose a card / Red or black / 21 / Blackjack” — the lyrics owe a lot to excess, and the track has its moments of all-out hedonism, too, punctuated with groovy, street-ready ebbs.
It’s unashamed in its incredibly catchy central lick and, for that, you have to give the track credit. It’s disarming, it’s glittery, it’s moreish: a jackpot indeed.
